Best Food in Goa

India's beach paradise serves flavours as vibrant as its sunsets — from heritage Goan breakfast cafés in Panaji to Greek mezze platters overlooking the Arabian Sea at Vagator Beach.

  • ✦15 curated food spots near Panaji, Anjuna Beach, Calangute & Vagator
  • ✦Authentic Goan thali, traditional poee bread & Gadbad ice cream in Goa
  • ✦From century-old cafés on Rua de Ourem to cliffside sunset restaurants at Vagator

Street food in Goa does not follow the same rules as the rest of India. The Goa food guide that only covers beach shacks is missing half the story — the real eating happens in Panaji, in old cafés on Rua de Ourem where poee bread and bhaji have been served the same way for a century. Goan cuisine is built on coconut, kokum and a Portuguese-influenced patience that shows up in every thali. Calangute and Vagator have their own food culture — sunset dinners, mezze platters, sourdough cafés — but the food near Anjuna Beach and the heritage lanes of Panaji is where Goa's actual food identity lives. The Gadbad ice cream at Hanuman Foods and the Goan thali at Kokni Kanteen are not tourist food — they are what locals eat.
